LIFE IN THE SPIRIT 8/2/09         Rom 8:1-17

Truth: God wants us to have His Spirit. The unsaved do not have God’s Spirit. The saved have the Spirit of God. God wants His Spirit to have us. Are you living in the Spirit of God?

1. GOD WANTS US TO HAVE HIS SPIRIT
   1. God walked with Adam. Gen 3:8
   2. God dwelt in the Tabernacle. Ex. 40:34-38
   3. God dwelt in the Temple. 2 Chron 7:1
   4. God dwells in us through Christ. Vs. 1-4. 1 Cor 6:19-20
2. THE UNSAVED DO NOT HAVE GOD’S SPIRIT
   1. The fleshly minded have no relationship with God Vs 5-6. Gal 5:22-25
   2. The carnally minded are dead in their sin. Vs 6-7. Eph 2:1;4:18
   3. The worldly minded can not please God. Vs.8
3. THE SAVED HAVE GOD’S SPIRIT
   1. The Spirit of God is in you. Vs. 9, 16
   2. The Spirit of Christ is in you. Vs. 9
   3. The Spirit of Life makes us alive. Vs. 10-11
4. GOD WANTS HIS SPIRIT TO HAVE US
   1. God wants us to live a spiritual life in Christ. Vs 12-13
   2. God wants us to be led by His Spirit. Vs. 14
   3. God frees us from fear by the “Spirit of adoption.” Vs 15
   4. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Vs 17
   5. We shall be glorified together with Christ. Vs 17
