WALKING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST      4/26/09

SANCTIFICATION
1 John 1:5-10

Truth: Sanctification is becoming like Christ by walking in His light. It is fellowship with Christ. This begins with salvation and continues as long as we live. It is possible through confession on our part and forgiveness and cleansing on God’s part. Its purpose is to bring joy and fruitfulness.

1. SANCTIFICATION IS FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
   1. Fellowship is to walk in light. 1 John 3:19-24
   2. Our fellowship is with God
   3. Our fellowship is with one another
2. SANCTIFICATION BEGINS WITH SALVATION
   1. Salvation gives us relationship with God
   2. Relationship with God gives us fellowship with God
   3. Sanctification takes place as we fellowship with God and with one another
3. SANCTIFICATION IS POSSIBLE BY FAITH
   1. If we confess our sins before God. I John 1:9
   2. God forgives our sins. Fellowship with Him
   3. God cleanses us. Separates me from the world. I John 5:4
4. SANCTIFICATION BRINGS JOY AND FRUIT
   1. We have joy when we walk in His light. Vs. 4
   2. We bear fruit when we walk in His light. John 15:11
